The star told how he was growing it as part of Movember, which is the annual event of growing moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

Speaking about his facial fur, he joked: ‘I find myself in a situation when I apologise before they even say anything.’

However, while Bear seemed content with his moutache, he revealed that his wife hates it and that he’ll shave it all off in time for the filming of his new Netflix series.

And it seems that his wife isn’t the only one against The adventurer’s new look, as fans took to Twitter to mock him.

Bear’s new look comes shortly after he won a four-year battle to build a 129-meter slipway at his £100,000 island retreat in north Wales.

The TV presenter received criticism from conservationists over plans to build the jetty on Ynys Tudwal Fawr, near the Llyn Peninsula at Abersoch, Wales.

Bear bought the island for £95,000 in 2001 and he splits his time between the remote resort and London with his wife Shara and their three sons, Jesse, 16, Marmaduke, 13, and Huckleberry, ten.

The rugged island is around 700m long and 200m wide and is home to grey seals, bottle-nosed dolphins, otters, choughs and porpoises.

And now the SAS soldier has received planning consent after revising his plans.

His application form said: ‘Following further research and construction design matters, to include appropriate sensitivity factors, limited amended quay works are necessary.

‘The works include a small area of rock excavation and raising the height of the approved landing stage by approximately one metre.’

Work is expected to start in 2020 but Grylls must not undertake any work during the seal pupping season of August 15 to November 30.
